Glendale Shoals Preserve is a property of the Spartanburg Area Conservancy. It is based around the old Glendale Mills along Lawson's Fork Creek. While the mill itself burned down in 2004 there are still some ruins standing. The mills' dam and an old iron structure bridge are prominent features. Just below the dam, Lawson's Fork Creek passes over shoals of exposed rock before finally disappearing again into it's wooded embankment. The Preserve has trails through the area as well as numerous picnic tables. It is a nice place to spend some time relaxing while listening to the water pass over the shoals.
